About
Stair, porch and deck railings for Detroit and the surrounding counties.
Detroit Stair Railing installs, replaces and repairs stair railings, handrails and guards across Detroit and Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties — interior staircases, front porches and steps, and decks, in steel, wrought iron, aluminum and wood.
Most railing work here starts with something already there: a steel rail set into a poured concrete step that freeze-thaw has cracked, a steep bungalow stair with one loose handrail, a porch in a local historic district where the Historic District Commission reviews what goes back. The Michigan Residential Code sets the heights and gaps; each city's building department, rental and point-of-sale inspections and historic commissions decide the rest.
A measure on site, then a written quote covering material, length, mounting and labor, with the repair option alongside the replacement where there is one. Nothing is cut out or ordered until you approve it.
Warranty terms are set out in writing on your quote rather than advertised as a headline number.
Michigan licenses residential builders and maintenance and alteration contractors through LARA. Ask any contractor which licence they hold and check the number on LARA's licence lookup before work starts. In homes built before 1978, work that disturbs old paint falls under the EPA lead-safe (RRP) rule, so ask about that too.
Call (313) 497-5628 or send the form. Say whether the stair is inside or out, roughly how many steps, what the posts sit in — concrete, brick, wood or drywall — and send a photo if you can.
